Seven-Step Process

Step One: Create a Profile

First, search for jobs that you find of interest. Then, click “apply for this job online,” and you'll be prompted to create an online profile, including your resume.

Step Two: Selection Process

Your profile will be reviewed by a member of our recruitment team. If there is a match between your credentials and an open position, a recruiter will contact you by telephone or email. If you are not selected for a telephone screen or an in-person interview, your resume will remain in our online database for future reference. You may view the status of jobs for which you applied and update your resume in our applicant tracking system at any time by logging into your online profile with your user name and password. If you need help with your password, there are prompts on the log-in page to guide you.

Step Three: The Interview

If you are selected for a telephone screen or an in-person interview, you may be asked to complete an online employment application, and a username and password will be emailed to you. Telephone screen interviews are a good way to discuss your qualifications and any other details that might be helpful for our staffing office to note. If there is a close match between your skills and the position, the next step may be to schedule you for an in-person interview. If you are selected, you will be instructed on whether to go directly to the hiring manager’s location or come to a Human Resources Department location for an interview.

Step Four: Background Check

Following the interview(s), if you are selected for an offer, you will be contacted for your references and background check (to include employment and education verification, criminal record, etc.).

Step Five: The Offer

Offers are made verbally and sent via email. In the weeks before your start date, you’ll come to one of our Human Resources Department locations to complete pre-employment paperwork and show proof of your authorization to work in the United States. You will also be given an appointment at Employee Health Services for a pre-employment assessment, including a review of your immunizations, a TB test and a drug screen. All employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of the pre-employment background check and drug screening. Employee Health Services clearance must be granted before you will be able to start work.

Step Six: Onboarding

About five days after you have accepted your new position with Inova, you should receive a “Welcome” email from the Inova eServices Center. It explains how to log into the website to complete your first set of new hire forms. Please log in and complete Tour 1 (Your New Role) within 48 hours of receiving this email. After you have completed Tour 1 (Your New Role), visit the Inova eServices Center office to complete additional paperwork that cannot be done online. This visit must be completed within three business days of completing Tour 1 (Your New Role). You must bring all licenses and certifications that are required for your position. You will also need to bring documents proving your identity and eligibility to work in the United States. For a list of acceptable documents, please see the Onboarding Steps attachment that was emailed to you with your Inova Offer Letter. If you cannot visit the Inova eServices Center within three days, please contact us immediately. Before your first day, log back into the Inova eServices Center website and complete Tour 2 (Before Your First Day)! For your convenience, you may complete this while you are at the Inova eServices Center.

Step Seven: Orientation

After the background check and pre-employment assessment are completed and cleared, you will be scheduled to attend InovaNEW (new hire orientation), which takes place on your first day of employment. Depending on your role, you may participate in additional training and orientations.
